Rules/Regulations for the 2008 Baxter County Fair Pageant

The Baxter County Fair Pageant will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6th, 2008 at Dunbar Auditorium.

Be on time for your designated division for the contest. DO NOT COME MORE THAN 15 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR CHECK IN TIME; YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE! YOUR ARRIVAL TIMES (APPROXIMATE) ARE:

Tiny Tot King 5:45 p.m.
Tiny Tot Queen 6:00 p.m.
Petite Miss 6:20 p.m.
Little Miss 6:45 p.m.
Jr. Miss 7:15 p.m.
Miss Baxter County 7:40 p.m.
Princess 8:00 p.m.
Queen 8.30 p.m.

JUDGES are from outside Baxter County and do not know the contestants or individual names. We strive to be sure the contest is non-biased.

CONTESTANTS are judged on the following:

1. BEAUTY: Physical appearance.
2. POISE AND STAGE PRESENCE: Grace and carriage of body.
3. APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR AGE: Gown, make-up and overall appearance.
4. PERSONALITY: Smile; friendliness.

ONE ADULT PER CONTESTANT will be allowed in the dressing area and will pay the admission price of $4.00.

NO MALES ALLOWED IN THE BACKSTAGE DRESSING AREA.
EXCEPTION: During the Tiny Tot King and Tiny Tot Queen categories. One adult is required to be on stage and escort their child across the stage during rehearsal and the pageant.

** NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE WINGS OF THE STAGE EXCEPT THE CONTESTANTS AND MEMBERS OF THE PAGEANT COMMITTEE.

** YOUNGER SIBLINGS AND BABIES NOT IN THE CONTEST ARE NOT ALLOWED BACKSTAGE AT ANYTIME.

Contestants in the Petite Miss, Little Miss and Jr. Miss categories will be released from the stage into the auditorium after their categories. PLEASE GET YOUR CHILD AT THIS TIME.

** PAGEANT PERSONNEL ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD AFTER BEING DISMISSED FROM THE STAGE.

PICTURES: Contestants' pictures need to be taken BEFORE going on stage. Only the winners’ pictures will be taken afterwards.

Only first names will be announced from the stage (no last names or parents’ names).

Walk slowly on stage for safety reasons.

No hand held items: flowers, purses, umbrellas, etc. No gum, food or drinks in the building. NO SMOKING ON SCHOOL PROPERTY.

CONDUCT: ANYONE causing a problem will be escorted off the premises by a Mountain Home Police Officer.

The pageant personnel are NOT RESPONSIBLE for lost or misplaced items and contestants may NOT store items in the dressing rooms.

In all divisions (except Queen), contestants will leave the stage and the winner and alternates will be called back on stage to receive a crown and flowers.

In the Queen category, the winner and alternates will be called from the group standing on the stage. If your name is called as the winner or alternate, please step forward and the rest of the group will exit the stage.

QUEEN CATEGORY ONLY: Winner of "Queen" category may only compete on the state level ONE time, but you can enter on the county level repeatedly. Finalists will respond to an interview question while on stage.

Winner of the Queen category must have a black and white picture taken the night of the pageant to be sent to the state contest (at no charge to the winner). Other expenses are the sole responsibility of the winner. Queen will compete in a bathing suit category at the state pageant and will need to contact Paula Bailey, Fair Manager at 425-6828 for further information.

WINNERS AND ALTERNATES: It is NECESSARY to give your name and address to a pageant official before leaving. Also, please pick up a parade handout, as you will need to ride in the Fair parade.

NOTE: By accepting these rules, you grant Baxter County Fair Board, the Fair Pageant organizers, and the owners of baxtercountyfair.org permission to use any picture or likeness of you or your child taken at the pageant in any reasonable print or electronic publication. This may include, but is not limited to: NEWSPAPERS, FAIR PROGRAM, NEWSLETTERS, PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS AND WEB SITES.
